| Frequently Asked
Questions
Q. Where are the courses held?
A. All of our classroom courses are held
at the Downtown Ramada Hotel at 707-8th Ave. SW
in Calgary, Tel: (403) 263-7600. The second floor room where the
course will be held is posted in the lobby and another sign for
Ayrton Exploration is normally posted outside the
room.
Q. What is included with the course?
A. Each course includes an extensive manual, a variety of
handouts, charts, maps and exercises. As well, we have many hands-on
samples to pass around for viewing. We also provide tea / coffee
and pastries.
Q. What times do the courses start and finish?
A. We start at 8:30 a.m. and finish by 4:30 p.m. each day.
We take a one-hour lunch break between 12:00 noon and 1:00 p.m.
Q. What are the lunch arrangements?
A. We do not provide a lunch, however participants often
go as a group to the Ramada Hotel’s lobby restaurant for a
smorgasbord lunch. Participants are also free to make their own
lunch plans.
Q. What should I bring to a course?
A. We provide course manuals for all our courses, in which
you can write any course notes. We encourage participants to color
maps, cross-sections and diagrams, so a set of colored pencils (red,
green, blue and yellow specifically), a calculator, ruler, pencil
and eraser and a thin, black felt pen are required. This is also
listed on each confirmation sheet we fax you.
Q. What should I wear to a course?
A. You can wear anything from casual work attire to jeans
and a T-shirt. Note for those participants signed up for our “Geology
for Non-Geologists” course, the second day includes an afternoon
field trip around several city blocks, so appropriate clothes should
be worn, dependent on the weather.
Q. What are the course schedules?
A. We normally present each of our courses two or three times
per year. Currently, scheduled courses are as follows.
